Driving brompton through the snow and ice.

It is snow and ice. It is -15 °C. It is time to change to "Schwalbe Winter". Still "Schwalbe Kojack" on the photos.
I use short carbon mudgards from "http://www.17carbon.com/". For heavy weather conditions I use "puug on" fenders. Same as used for Montague crosstown bikes (front and rear). Fenders are very light, installation is fast and easy, and provide great protection.

Update from 8speed to 16speed by shimano deore M615

Major step:
1. Shimano Deore M615 38Z/24Z Black 175 mm crankset (Double chain ring)
2. MKS MM Cube EZY clipless pedals
This is true increment in the power if cycling (even with with trailer) in the mountains or/and if breaking a way through frozen mixture from dirt, snow and ice.
Why 175 mm and not 170? It is not easy for tall People on Brompton, even with long seatpost. Additional 5 mm is one big win.
The original Brompton BB was removed and replaced by shimane hollowtech II. You can not compare hollowtech with original BB. Hollowtech is very stiff and bearings are much better, compared to original. Simple to install. Used Park Tool tools to remove the original and to install the new one BB.
The wisher between hollowtech BB and the frame has to be adapter to meet acceptable chainline. I used one provided by http://tillercycles.co.uk/. He provided it as part of his "Shimano Alfine 39t chainset" Brompton gearing upgrade. Two standard shimano wishers (crankset includes three wishers) are installed on the left BB side. You can see installed SA 8 speed gears with modified chain tensioner (provided by  http://tillercycles.co.uk/).
I shall provide better description about this update.

It is 16 speed now. But it is still manual change and gears do overlap. Effectively it is three new lower gears.

Good helper - Carradice trailer for Brompton.

Brompton still almost in the original state. Changes so far:
1. Brompfication titanium seatpost
2. Brooks swift titanium saddle
3. Brompfication self adjusting clamps

You can see Birdy frame case bound to trailer. It was not practicable on Brompton. You have to folt it on the side if folding Brompton. Sold through eBay.
